The score is the points earned divided by the points possible, times 100. The letter grade uses the standard scale, or your own if you change the cut-offs. The chart below shows the range for each letter on your scale.

Yes. Keep the points possible the same and change the points earned for each paper to read off the grade quickly.
Does it handle any points total?
Yes, any total works, for example 43 out of 50 or 27 out of 30. The percentage adjusts to your totals.
